ABOUT ACQUIESCE ART
Acquiesce Art was born from two things I have loved for as long as I can remember – art and music
ART
My connection with visual art began in my earlier years working in the photography industry. That experience gave me a real appreciation for imagery, composition and creativity, and from there my interest in art continued to grow. Over the years I've spent countless hours looking at art, visiting galleries, creating things myself and simply enjoying the feeling that a great image can give you.
MUSIC
Music has been with me for even longer. I grew up with music around me and it has been a constant throughout my life. Whether it's listening to an album, buying vinyl, discovering something new or experiencing a band live, music has always been a huge part of who I am.
I've always felt that music and art are naturally intertwined. Think of the album covers and photographs that become inseparable from the music they represent, or the musicians who are visual artists and creatives in their own right. One continually inspires the other, and some incredible art has emerged from that relationship.
More importantly, I believe both music and art add something genuinely valuable to our lives.
They make us feel
A song or an image can take you back to a particular time and place. It can remind you of someone, lift you up, make you nostalgic, excited, happy, sad or even angry. Sometimes you can't really explain why you connect with something – you just do. And I think there's something wonderful about that.
That feeling is at the heart of Acquiesce Art.
The Art
When choosing work for Acquiesce Art, the image always comes first.
Inspiration can come from anywhere - a musician, a lyric, an album, a photograph, a moment in music history or simply an image that catches my eye. I'm not interested in everything looking the same. In fact, quite the opposite. I want Acquiesce Art to have a diverse and constantly evolving collection of pieces that I find inspiring and hope others will too.
And while music might be the connection running through the gallery...
You don't necessarily have to love the musician to love the artwork.
That's important to me.
Someone might choose a piece because an artist or album has meant something to them for years. Someone else might know nothing about the musical connection and simply think, I love that image. I want that on my wall.
Both are exactly what Acquiesce Art is about.
The collection ranges from original, numbered and signed artworks to limited editions, rare posters, passes and other pieces connected to music and its culture. I want there to be variety - different artists, styles, sizes and price points - with pieces that are affordable alongside works that are genuinely rare and exclusive.
Whatever the piece, quality and presentation matter. If it's something you're going to live with and enjoy in your home, I believe it should be something special.
Why Acquiesce Art?
The name itself has a little music story behind it.
I'm a huge Oasis fan, and Acquiesce has always been one of my favourite songs. So when it came to naming something that brings together my love of music and art, Acquiesce Art just felt right.
But at its heart, Acquiesce Art really is a passion project.
It wasn't created simply because I saw a business opportunity. I just reached a point where something inside me fired up and I wanted to do something with these two things I had loved all my life.
So I did.
My idea of success for Acquiesce Art is actually pretty simple. I want to discover and create great pieces, share them with other people and see them find their way onto walls where they'll be enjoyed.
I'd love for Acquiesce Art to eventually grow beyond the online gallery. The dream is to have a physical gallery one day - a space filled with beautifully framed pieces where people can walk in, take their time, discover something unexpected and experience the artwork properly.
For now, though, I'm simply enjoying building the collection and seeing where it takes me.
If someone finds a piece through Acquiesce Art that connects with them, takes it home, puts it on their wall and continues to get pleasure from looking at it years later, I'll consider that a success.
Because music and art should make us feel something. And that's really why Acquiesce Art exists.
